EnergiZen Yoga School will have you certified in the most popular and in demand styles of teaching. The basic teaching approach is posture alignment (Iyengar yoga) as we see it to be the foundation of all yoga practices (Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Therapeutic, etc.). You will learn to develop your own sequences based on your students needs and what is authentic to you. You will be able to build your yoga practice and teachings with a new extensive toolbox of yoga methods, techniques, along with the ability to evaluate your clients needs and adapt the yoga practice accordingly. This will enable you to create intelligent, injury free adapted yoga. Most of all you will have the foundation to lead others with knowledge, confidence and safely.
We will cover yoga for all types of bodies and needs. The main styles being Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Yin.
Two years of strong yoga practice recommended.
Read as much as you can about yoga philosophy, history, and various styles of yoga. Try different classes from different teachers in a variety of venues as much as possible.
Be open-minded. Arrive well rested with a focused mind, and willing to have the most rewarding experience.
A yoga teacher training is not a two weeks retreat or holiday. You must be present in mind, body, and spirit.
Attendance to all training hours are mandatory. Should any hours be missed, the student is responsible to make up these hours in order to receive a certificate of completion.

When I was researching what school would like to obtain my 200 Hr yoga teacher training, I was looking specifically for Trauma Sensitive, Yin, and/or Restorative, as well as Hatha, Iyengar, and Vinyasa training. Cynthia's training in Tobago provided exactly what I was looking to learn. Her knowledge of yogic traditions, asanas, meditations, working with veterans and other trauma sensitive or specialized groups was impressive. The days were structured, well rounded, and informative. In addition to Cynthia's vast knowledge base, we also were fortunate enough to learn from Ginny Plumperton, who has been involved in teaching yoga since the 1970's and a guest teacher, Tanya, who gave an introduction to Thai Yoga Massage, something I've never heard of, but am very interested in learning more about. The instruction, manuals, classes, meditations, homework videos, and readings showed me that yoga isn't simply about being able to do a handstand, but is a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual discipline, and also a way of life. Cynthia went above and beyond to ensure that her students had not only a good foundation and confidence to teach a yoga class to many different specialties, but we also walked away with a higher awareness of self. I highly recommend Energizen Yoga School to anyone looking to obtain a teaching certification.
